Li Hui is Associate Professor at the School of European Languages and Cultures, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), and Head of the Department of Latin Language and Literature. She received a Bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature from BFSU in 2008, and a Master’s degree in Comparative and World Literature from the Center for Overseas Chinese Sinology at BFSU in 2011. She obtained a Ph.D. in Civiltà dell’Asia e dell’Africa from the Faculty of Humanities, Sapienza University of Rome in 2015, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Classical Studies from the Salesian Pontifical University in 2015 and 2018, respectively.

Since 2016, she has been teaching at BFSU, focusing on Latin language and literature. In 2018, she took charge of the undergraduate Latin program, designing a curriculum based on the “Natura method” and serving as chief editor of the Comprehensive Latin Course (Chinese version of Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata) series. In 2022, the Latin program was designated as a National First-Class Undergraduate Major. Her teaching covers Latin language, literature, grammar, rhetoric, philology, and pedagogy. She also supervises graduate students.

Her research interests include the Latin writings of missionaries in Ming and Qing China, Latin linguistics and philology, and Latin teaching methodology. She has published over twenty academic articles in Chinese and international journals and is the principal investigator of the National Social Science Fund project Philological Study of Latin Works by the Franciscan Missionary Carlo Orazi da Castorano. She has presented at numerous academic conferences in China and abroad and has participated in the translation and annotation of Latin texts and related scholarly works.
