Liu Yifeng is Associate Professor, Director of Academic Research at the School of History (Institute for Global History), and Director of the Center for Buddhist Cultural History at Beijing Foreign Studies University. She holds a B.A. in German Literature and a second B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, an M.A. in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Fudan University, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Renmin University of China, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Philosophy, School of Humanities at Tsinghua University.
Her research focuses on Mahāyāna Buddhist thought, the history of Chan Buddhism, and modern Chinese Buddhist history, with particular attention to the translation and transformation of Buddhist concepts. She is the author ofMaking Sanctity of Jiangnan Monasteries in Modern China: A Case Study on Laiguo’s Revitalization of Yangzhou Gaomin Monastery (2020) and has published numerous articles in leading journals, includingReligions,Studies in World Religions,Religious Studies,The World Religious Cultures,Buddhist Studies, andStudies in Chinese Religions.
