Currently, his research field is mainly about corpus-based discourse analysis, especially metadiscourse analysis. His doctoral thesis entitled 'Metadiscourse use in Spanish academic writing: Exploring the interface of nativeness and expertise' obtained Sobresaliente (Cum Laude) from the Universidad de Murcia.
