靡费俊男，是何因        Unthrifty loveliness, why dost thou spend
        一身美质独自吞？        Upon thyself thy beauty’s legacy?
        天之所慨非白与，        Nature’s bequest gives nothing but doth lend,
        借给乐善好施人。        And being frank she lends to those are free.
                
        铁鸡貌美不知舍，        Then, beauteous niggard, why dost thou abuse
        丰饶馈赠井底屯？        The bounteous largess given thee to give?
        金钵在手无所获，        Profitless usurer, why dost thou use
        摇钱树下难生存？        So great a sum of sums, yet canst not live?
                
        自怜自爱独来往，        For having traffic with thyself alone,
        自甜自蜜欺自身。        Thou of thyself thy sweet self dost deceive.
        大限来临归去日，        Then how, when nature calls thee to be gone,
        以何账目报天尊？        What acceptable audit canst thou leave?
                
        弃用之美随你葬，        Thy unused beauty must be tomb’d with thee,
        本该传世赋子孙。        Which, used, lives th’ executor to be.
